Rooted in Anishinaabe culture, guided by the Seven Teachings, and dedicated to empowering every student who walks through our doors.
White Earth Tribal and Community College is an institution of higher learning dedicated to academic excellence grounded in Anishinaabe culture, values, and traditions. We prepare students to thrive — in their communities and beyond.
Four guiding commitments that shape every decision, every program, and every interaction at WETCC.
Prepare learners through a life-long process of discovering knowledge and intellectual discipline.
Support self-determination through preservation and promotion of Anishinaabe language and culture.
Collaborate with local and tribal leaders to encourage community service and meaningful engagement.
Promote a philosophy rooted in the Seven Teachings of the Anishinaabe people as our guiding compass.
White Earth Tribal and Community College was established by the White Earth Tribal Council, beginning with just 14 students in a humble two-room building. Today it stands as a cornerstone of higher education and cultural preservation for the Anishinaabe people of northwestern Minnesota.
Everything in our learning environment is guided by these seven sacred gifts from the Creator — the heart of who we are.
Everything has a spirit and deserves honor. We safeguard the dignity, individuality, and rights of all people and beings.
If we act out of love for one another and ourselves, we work harmoniously and with deep compassion toward all.
The ability to face fear or changes with confidence. Do what is morally right and be proud of who you are.
Maintain truthfulness and sincerity in one's actions. Set realistic goals and keep your word in all circumstances.
Seek to learn all you can in a respectful manner. Take time to reflect and share your knowledge generously with others.
Know your limits and abilities. Recognize that we are all human and will make mistakes — and that is how we grow.
To know and understand the 7 teachings given to us by the Creator and remain faithful to them. Each of us holds the truth in our hearts — it is the foundation of all we do.
